I have recently found out that Bella LOVES cheese. I was doing a training session(I'm teaching her 'side') and she refused to eat the treats which she usually loves, so for some reason, I decided to give her cheese and she LOVED it! It will save me money too, since I won't have to buy the cheese as it is something that mum always buys. Bella also has a new hobby: chasing butterflies. She even chases their shadow's!
Hey everyone! I can't wait till Christmas! Bella really needs a new collar and another registration tag because she chewed them both. she has been chewing a lot lately, like about 2 weeks ago, she chewed the couch covers, she didn't do very much damage but mum had to pay $60 to get them fixed because it was the day after my auntie put them on gumtree and said that they were in excellent condition.
I have discovered a new way to get your dog to not do something e.g chew shoes, nip etc. Okay, the answer is, when you see them do something that you don't like, tie them up on a long line or just their normal lead. It has definately worked for Bella! Yesterday she was going nuts when I was brushing her, which she doesn't normally do, so I tied her to a pole in my backyard, today she stood still unless there were knots that were hard to get out.
I did work experience at the Aldgate vet on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, which was sooooo fun! I think Bella is getting used to the car now, because when we went to the dog park the other day, on the way, she didn't whine AT ALL!(or throw up!) And she's getting used to other dogs now as well, as she plays now instead of backing up, which is good!
Bella has started copying what I do with the ball. Sometimes when I kick the soccer ball, it goes under things, so I use my foot to get it out. Bella has started doing the same thing. Today her ball went into the garden, and she used her paw to get it out!
Bella is pretty much toilet trained! She has an accident every now and then but apart from that, she's good. I am teaching her "get it" where she retrieves an objet and holds it until I tell her to let go. She's pretty good, but today I did it for ages and she got bored and turned her head when I put the toy near her, but to show her that I finish the sessions, I waited until she did it, which took a while but she did it. She now does "door" perfectly. "door" is when she opens the door. I am also going to make this blog into a book.
This sounds weird but, I taught Bella how to get on the couch. Your probably thinking 'what?'. Let me explain, whenever I'm watching tv, Bella always watches it with me, on the couch but, there was a problem with that, she couldn't get up, so I had to lift her all the time, which got annoying, so I taught her how to jump up by herself. Now your probably thinking 'how did you do it?'. Well, I got 1 pillow and encouraged her to get on it, when she got good at that, I added another one and did the same thing over and over, until she was able to jump from the top pillow to the couch. Then I did exactly the same thing but backwards, when she got good at jumping from the pillows to the couch I took 1 pillow away, then, when she got good at that, I did the same thing. I know that your not supposed to have long training sessions with dogs, but we did this for about 1 hour and she didn't get bored, because it didn't seem like a training session, it was a game! My gorgeos pup can now get on and off the couch by herself! Oh, and she can stop a ball with her paws as well!
I am currently on my new IPad 2!!!! All of the year 5's at my school got them, and we get to take them home!About Bella, she's great. I taught her to stand on her back legs, which she learnt in 2 days! I also took a photo of her, which is very cute, but I can't show you because it won't let me =(
I've been so busy I haven't updated much. I am currently at dads but I will write what I can remember. I'm teaching Bella to drop(lie down), and she's doing really well, she understands the hand movement more than the verbal command, but she's still good! I took her to the park yesterday, and she loved it, exept for when some other dogs started chasing her, she didn't understand that they wanted to play, and whined when the other dog sniffed her as she was on her back and the dog had his paw on her stomach, and I think he stratched her because I gave her a bath when I got home and I saw a stratch on her leg =(.
I've been at dads for 4 days and felt like crying. I couldn't stand been away for that long. When I got home she went NUTS!!!!!! Most people say that you shouldn't let dogs jump on you, but I think it's cute. I just got back from the vet for bellas 2nd vaccination. The vet said that I could take her on a walk next week, but when she was 12 weeks, a different vet said that I could take her for a walk that day. Hmm... Does anybody know the right answer????
Today we picked Sarah up from school and I asked mum if we could go to pet domains, and she said yes. I wanted to get her a coat so I asked if we could bring her to get the right size, so we went home and I got her. When we got there, I looked at the coats and saw a REALLY cute pink one with a love heart on it. I HAD to get it! Then I weighed her (she is 2.8 or 2.9. I think). We left with, dog treats, a coat and dog food.
Bella has learnt sit after 2 10 minute sessions. YAY =D, A+. The D-, she's not fully toilet trained, and when I say shes not FULLY toilet trained, well, sometimes she does it on the pee pads, but other times she doesn't. I don't know what to do?
I went to dads for the long weekend this week, but mum went to Naracoorte, so I was allowed to bring Bella. We went to the vet on Saturday for her 2nd immunisation. I asked the vet how long I had to wait before I could take her for walks, and he said that I could take her one that day! As soon as he said that, I looked at dad, he knew what I wanted and said "maybe later". I was soo0ooooo happy and excited. We went at about 4:30 ish. She was great! We walked down a road that not many cars come down and she heeled perfectly!!!!!!! Sarah, mum and I took her for a walk today as well!
I went to the shops with Sarah today, we usually go straight to the lolly isle and run to the checkout, but today, I went to the 'animal' isle. I was looking around, when I saw something that interestested me . . . A DOG TOY!!!!! It was like a tug of war rope but really small! I decided to get it for Bella. As soon as I got home, I gave it to her, hoping that she'd like it . . . she LOVED it!!!!!!! YAY!!! I was soooo happy!!!
It's been an interesting week. Bella has been her usual self, except for last night, she usually gets up at around 4ish and straight away scratches and whines at the door, but to show that whining doesen't give her anything, I wait till she stops, THEN I let her out. Last night, instead of whining straight away she sat at the door, I think ignoring her is working! (mission accomplished, LOL =P). She's getting used to the lead(YAY!). I will probably take her on a walk on Saturday as she gets her immunization on Friday, and I might take her to the new dog park next week. Can't wait!
Hi Everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates on Bella. I've been at my dads for the weekend and I wasn't allowed to bring her =( When I got back, She jumped all over me! She's been great as usual, but she's been doing her 'business' on the carpet lately. If anyone can think of any reason why she could be doing this, please comment.
Sarah got her puppy, Archie, on Friday and brought him over today!!!!!! He's soooooo cute!!!!! Bella is 2 weeks older than him and they both haven't had all of their shots, so they're not supposed to be around other dogs, but we put them down anyway . . . It was sooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend, Sarah, lives behind me and there's a chip shop down the road, so we usually go there. Today we took Bella. Dogs obviously weren't allowed in there, so I stood outside while Sarah ordered the chips . . . I had sooooooo many people come up and have a pat, even a mum from my school asked what breed she was and said that she would have a look at the breed on the internet!!!!!!!!!! She's sooooooo popular . . . and she's only 9 weeks! oh, and btw, Sarah is getting her pup tomorrow, a Hungarian Vizsla. I can't wait!
Today was a pawsome day!!!!!!!!! Bella has been sooooooo good, she's been doing everything I ask her to and she's getting good at the command "bring it back" where she gets her ball or another toy and brings it back to me. I got a good pic of Bella with her ball and when she was asleep last night . . . It was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!
Today was Bella's 'oops day'. When I got home from school today, I was STARVING, so I brought Bella's bed and told her to come. She didn't budge, so I put her in the bed and carried her, but she slipped out and almost fell on her back. Then, about 5 mins ago, mum accidentally locked her in the hallway, but I heard her squealing and rushed to the door. Bella's had a bad end to the day =P
Today, I came home from school, and the first thing I see is my Auntie standing next to a box. I obviously was wondering what it was. Auntie Yvette said "I got a present for you". Then I heard a squeal, Auntie Yvette opens the box, and out jumps the fluffiest puppy you've ever seen!!!!!!! I've had her for five and a half hours now and I know that she'll be the best dog I've ever had!!!! She follows me everywhere. I love her sooooooo much. I'm taking a day off school tomorrow to look after her and get her used to the house and everything. I can't wait to take her for a walk and take her to the park when she's 16 weeks!!!!!
